The Sutter Heart Wellness and Cardiac Rehabilitation Center's mission is to partner with patients, families and physicians to empower individuals to lead active, heart healthy lifestyles. We facilitate cardiovascular risk factor reduction with R.E.E.P. (Recovery, Exercise, Education and Prevention).
For the past 25 years, The Sutter Heart Wellness and Rehabilitation Center has been helping people recover from cardiac events such as myocardial infarction, coronary artery bypass surgery, valve repair or replacement surgery, angioplasty, stent placement, angina and heart failure.
This program combines "sharing and caring" with the expertise of a team of professionals consisting of a Cardiologist, RNs, Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist and an Exercise Technician. Other specialists are available including a registered dietician and a social worker. Together they represent over 150 years of combined experience with Sutter Memorial Hospital.
This program follows the standards set by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, the California Society for Cardiac Rehabilitation and the American College of Sports Medicine.
A comprehensive program of monitored exercise and education focusing on risk factor modification teaches patients and their families about prevention and reduction of the health complications associated with uncontrolled blood pressure, diabetes, elevated blood lipids, obesity, smoking and physical inactivity.
Cardiac Rehabilitation can begin during your hospital stay or perhaps in your physician's office. While in the hospital one of our RNs will visit you and your family to provide educational materials and answer questions about your diagnosis and procedure. If our RN should miss you during your stay please ask your cardiologist about cardiac rehabilitation on your first follow up office visit.
The out-patient phase is a one to three month ECG monitored exercise and education course designed to build physical strength and emotional confidence. This experience will provide you with knowledge of your health issues and the tools to actively manage your health.
This program is covered by most insurance companies. Patients must be referred by their physician, so ask your doctor today if we can assist your family in living a safer, heart healthy lifestyle. For more information please contact the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center nearest you.
