Transportation Systems Management Plan
Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento
Our medical campus construction project in Midtown Sacramento is well under way. With nearly 1,800 employees, physicians, vendors, patients and visitors coming to Sutter General Hospital every day, and construction crews at the adjacent construction sites, driving and parking in the Midtown area can be very busy.
As good neighbors to the residents and other businesses located in Midtown, Sutter Medical Center is working closely with the City of Sacramento to ensure there is adequate off-street parking. Besides the two existing parking structures at 29th and L streets, the Community Parking Garage located at 28th and N streets is under construction and is scheduled to be completed in February 2008.

As part of our Transportation Systems Management / Employee Monitoring and Reporting Program, hospital employees and physicians are provided parking in the 29th and L Street parking structures. We also encourage hospital employees to participate in alternative commuting options. Transportation benefits for employees include vanpools, free carpool parking, free shuttles, steeply discounted transit passes and additional bicycle lockers.
In addition, we have established special, off-street parking for Turner Construction and McCarthy Builders and their subcontractors at the Regional Transit garage at 29th and Q streets. This way, street parking is reserved for local residents and businesses, visitors to the neighborhood and hospital visitors. We have implemented a Construction Parking Management Plan to help us in this effort. For instance, construction crews are encouraged to utilize alternative transportation options to the Sutter Medical Center project site. Transportation benefits for construction workers include free transit, free shuttles and free carpool parking. In addition, a free shuttle service runs between Sutter General Hospital and the 29th Street Light Rail Station for the convenience of construction workers and Sutter employees.
